EEG ( Brain wave) BiofeedbackWhat is it?EEG are the electrical signals generated by the Brain.They are used to help people with lots of different conditions. How do you do it?An instrument is used to pickup the Brain waves and translate them into a display of some type. Small sensors are placed on different areas of the head, depending on what brain waves are of interest. Simple instruments may only have 3 sensors while full medical type instruments can have over 20 sensors. For Biofeedback use only a few sensors are used as it is very hard for a person to respond to more that 1 or 2 different information streams at one time.What is it used for?Brain wave Biofeedback was and still is used to help people get into a theta or alpha state. This was the early use for it. A great deal of research has been done and treatment using Brain wave training have been developed for a number of conditions including ADD/ADHD, epilepsy, addictions,and closed head injuryWhat equipment do I need?If you are wanting to to reach an alpha or theta state a basic instrument is all you need. The instruments used to treat medical problems are computer based and expensive. These treatments require expert help and take many sessions. They are not something that can be done at home.
